Nick is the founder of Neto Shapes and its label Sea Smoke Surfboards. He has been building boards since 2002 and is constantly refining his craft and taking inspiration from all around to help create the custom board needed to fit your surfing. With a background in construction the idea of making your own board seemed natural and soon Neto Shapes was born and boards where getting under the feet of friends all over.
As board building progressed, the company has moved from Narragansett RI to San Clemente CA and finally to Portland ME. Learning along the way from various other shapers and glassers, Nick has evolved into a one man business building craft from start to finish using the best materials he can to create a board that is durable as well as a pleasure to ride.
Going hand in hand with Nicks love for the ocean, it was natural to become involved in the world of boats. For a decade he has been working on boats of all kinds repairing, re-powering, modifying and now building. The skills of glassing transfers well between surfboards and boats and moving into the future being able to offer custom built boats with a focus on exploring the local surf, is extremely exciting.
