Glider fish with custom twins built for handling those windy days. The twin set up let’s you hook your turn on the drop in allowing you to be up and flying down the line with out a single fin bottom turn. This is not only fun but really an asset on those windy semi close out days where speed is the difference of a good wave or thinking it’s all close outs. Think of this as a big fish you can ride in a steep pocket, take off late on a angle and slide down the face as well as do a big cut back out on an open face.
Wider and thinner than a traditional glider I feel this allows much much versatility in how you want to approach your wave. Cheater five on thigh high peelers or drop in on some big storm waves and set your line for a long run to the inside. Slight roll in nose flows to a single channel through the center in a v tail with hard edges. Fins are very forward to help keep the board surprisingly maneuverable for its length.
The linen inlays provide a look unlike resin pigment where you can see the details of the weave. S-glass deck is incredibly solid and with a dense PU core it will withstand some hard riding. These blunt nose boards let you ride the rail line of a longer board but still fit it in your car. More stable and faster than a standard 9’0” it helps making walking to the nose easier. This one is traditional rocker so easy and predictable compared to your other longboards.
Lower rails than a small wave log let you lock in on steeper sections and ride larger waves with ease. Knee to head for your average surfer is it’s sweet zone. Talk to @mainesurfersunion to pair with the fin fitting your style.

Twin with trailer option for a fun shortboard alternative. The bat tail fish shape paddles fast and has enough rocker to let you confidently drop in later and negotiate steeper sections. Designed for decent surf it has a more performance rail then a boxy retro fish, full length center channel and fin options for changing up the amount of control your feeling.
This is sglass construction with the marble work done at @mainesurfersunion art walk demo. Go give it a feel at the shop if you are in the market for a fun winter board.

5’5” fishy Simmons slight concave through the center with rolled nose and wide stable v tail. Super fast ride in thigh to head. One of the best small board designs ever.
6’8” long fish with concave between stringers and pulled in tail. Lower rails this was built to handle head plus fun stuff. Fast, fun and reliable it’s a great step up from a regular fish.
7’5” mid fish with lots of volume but not a boxy chunk many midlengths end up as. Knee to head waves have no chance of escaping this one. Fast trimming and stable ride from the middle.

Long fish for long rides. Rolled nose into single concave flowing into a V double concave. Tight three fin set up or twin with trailer. More versatile and maneuverable than a similar sized long board.
Pigment deck and bottom with pigment pin lines and glasson leash loop.

Wanted to tweak an existing board a bit. Added in 4 channels and single concave to V. Textured deck and Sglass to keep it exciting. Fins made from scrap glass.
I have been riding this shape for about 5 years and it is one of my favorites. All the speed and paddle power of a board 10” longer that you expect from a mini Simmons but the asymmetrical outline and fin and placement maximizes toe side trim and let’s you turn smoothly unlike many wide tail shapes. Waist to well overhead this board is a blast.

Thoughtful quiver building here for these customs. Wanted to make transition from grovel board to shortboard seamless so we went with same plan shapes and fin placement. Changes in the rocker, bottom contours and slight change in length let one board excel in small surf and the other to handle it when it gets better with ease.
This is prime example of why custom boards are best . Dialed exactly to what the rider wants and needs to maximize their surfing. It’s easy to get hung up on trying to figure out what model board you think you can fit into when you can just have the board made to fit you instead. No other sport has customized equipment so readily available.

6 channel twin fin, swallow tail with wings and full length belly channel. Ash flex panel and white wash tint.
I have been adding flex panels for a while as a way to control the flex of a stringerless blank. This 6’ long 1/4” thick add in is backed with 10oz glass and is plane sawn so it has minimal grain run out to keep flex consistent.
This board was designed off of a mid length I ride a lot but wanted a board that preformed better in stormy conditions. The tweaks added should make it more stable and predictable when windy and choppy.

Fun project building this curved plane. I milled i

Fun project building this curved plane. I milled it from a 1” silicone bronze prop shaft off cut to copy an existing wood body plane. Over the years I use the curved plane so much I keep wearing grooves in the base so decided a bronze body would be better. The mouth opening has been widened a little to try and eliminate the times chips get stuck and drag on the foam.

Wide point forward and pulled in tail really open up its ability to let you trim from the front and cheater 5 or ride more from the back and hold well in steep sections. A bit thinner and wider than most midlengths I see but this combo ends up easier to turn and more versatile with foot positioning to get you the feel your after.

Resin and spalted birch tailblock.
Small wave crusher with out being a heavy thick log. Many generic small wave boards rely on being high volume, high rocker and boxy rails to make catching waves super easy. However once on a wave none of those characteristics are helping and end up with a slow unresponsive board that forces you into the soft spot of the wave. Often this is shown by not making sections others are, drifting out of the wave as it passes under, rider bouncing up and down trying to generate speed or crouched low in an unstable stance.
Having a board that is fast is your friend. Fast equates to stability and you can always slow down if you want.
